Zap – Actually the American people elected George W. Bush as our President for his foreign policy vision. He saw that the only long-term way to extinguish the fire of terrorism was to promote democracy around the world and more specifically treat any nation that paid, trained, or harbored terrorism as if that nation-state was the terrorist themselves. I think attacking the Taliban as if they were Al Qaeda, and attacking Saddam as if he weere Zarqawi were key moves to extinguishing the threat that radical jihadists presented to all Americans. We owed it to the 3000 innocent Americans to do it and that debt will disappear over time and will be worth it as the world & the middle east becomes more pacified by democracy.

Regardless if the public option goes forward or not, federal money is used in the subsidies for those under 400% of the poverty level that can be used for either private or public insurance. Republican just do not want the bill to pass. Lieberman does not want public option because he does not want the public option to compete with the private insurance. CBO has confirmed the public option will not drive the private insurance out of business because the subsidies can be used for either private or public insurance.
Except for a short period of set-up, the public option will be independent of the government and stand on its own legs. Democrats are insisting on the public option because it is a game-changer in the health care insurance market.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].

that film was pretty much just a nazi-smash video. it really had little to do with real historic events, but Adolf Hitler killed himself in 1945, as the Russians enter the Berlin city center, where he was in the Fuhrer-bunker. he and his wife, Eva Braun, both took poison pills, and Hitler shot himself before the poison took effect. their bodies were then burned by Nazi stormtroopers, in respect and so that the Russians would not mutilate the remains. this is fact. the remains of Adolf Hitler’s skull is in the Museum of Military History in Moscow.

As for the movie – the whole point/message of Tarantino movies is violence, and the fact that we accept it as commonplace in our everyday lives – otherwise, no one would watch Tarantino’s violent movies.

What are the steps a person needs to take when moving to another country?
I am at the age where my kids are grown, the house and car are paid off, and I have nothing holding me down where I am at right now. I am putting my house on the market and once it sells would really love to move to another country in order to experience other cultures and what life is like beyond U.S. borders.
I already have my passport, but what else exactly does a person need to do to be able to purchase property and become an ex-pat in another country?
Each country has their own individual criteria on immigration. Most developed countries will require you to posses at least some sort of degree and have worked in that same field. Other ways to immigrate are investor visa’s and/or marriage based visa’s. Student visa’s in most countries will not allow you permanent status nor the ability to work (or work enough to support yourself).
I would do some investigating on which countries interest you the most. Then go from there. Your biggest hurdle will be obtaining a settlement visa. However if you can secure one, then everything else is just little things.
I would suggest maybe starting with a European country. If you can become a citizen of just one European country, then you can work, live or retire in any of the others (there are 28 I believe now).

How I envy baby-boomers like you.
Before you put your house on the market, I suggest that the first thing to do is to find out which country you would like to move to. Since you no longer have any commitment, and you have all the time in the world, you can plan a trip to those countires on your list and travel over a long period. Choose to stay and experience places as you move along. When you are finally serious about a place or two, you can even stay longer and work and live there on work permits.
I can promise you that when this is finally over, you’d have a completely different perspective of life

other countries only allow SKILLED workes to immigrate.
some countries have cut off ages so that if you are over the cut off age you dont get any points fior age. Canada’s cut off age is 55. Australia and NZ’s cut of age is 45.
but whatever job you have is more important – you can only immigrate if you can contribute your skills to the economy.
if you are retired and are sucking money out of the system, and you cannot contribute to the economy – then please stay home
