This past summer I went to a summer camp and taught kids between the ages of 7-17. I was working with animals as well b/c it was a zoo camp. While I was there I met some amazing people and I started going out with one of the guys. I was a bit iffy going into the relationship mainly b/c we live in completely different parts of the country [1000 miles distance] and I know he was as well. Needless to say, I started to fall for the guy. We were together at camp for a month and then we left and tried the long distance thing for almost 3 months until he broke up with me. He’s a recent graduate so he was having a hard time finding a job and he was even looking to live near me.
He didn’t really explain why he broke up with me, it was pretty vague especially b/c he kept saying all these reasons why did like being with me. I knew it all had to do with the distance thing and his whole job thing. Which sucks b/c otherwise we’d probably still be together. I felt like it was putting a strain on the relationship and also the fact that we were still in the beginning of the relationship at a distance wasn’t good.
It has now been almost 4 months since he broke up with me. I still have feelings for him and I still really care for him. Sometimes I feel like I’m fine and moving on and then other times it just comes back to me. We spent about a month or more not speaking to each other. Then I messaged him just to talk b/c there were some things on facebook that I needed to clear up. We have been talking off and on ever since.
I’m confused right now on what to do. I always hate this phase in getting over someone b/c I feel as though it isn’t really fair to someone else to be dating them b/c I’m still stuck on my ex but at the same time it isn’t fair to me b/c I’m not trying to get over him.
I don’t want to have any hope that we’ll get back together b/c we’ll end up in the same problem as before anyways. It just sucks b/c yesterday I went walking a park around town after I got out of class and it reminded me of a park that we used to always go to at camp and I found myself trying not to cry and I had to almost run to my car so that people wouldn’t think I was crazy or something. I mean it had been raining all day so there was no one really out there.
Any advice? Thanks!

I guess it was fun, dangerous and unpredictable.
fun- get to shoot down the German plans and German Zeppelin. Sense of pride.
unpredictable- you never know what’s going to happen. You can come out alive and live another day, or you can be the unfortunate one.
Dangerous- You can be shot down from behind. Unlike the plans noways, back in those days your head are exposed. There is no coverage. Getting a taste of head shot is not rare. The wings can get caught on fire.

Are Canadians as clueless about the American health care system as Americans are about the Canadian one?
As a Canadian on this forum, I often see the most outlandish claims about our health care system and wonder how anyone could believe them. Like claims that we have government bureaucrats controlling which doctor we go to (single payer means that our health care system receives government funding, but our health care system is controlled by a board of directors that has nothing to do with the government). I also see claims that we have death panels, can die waiting for life saving surgery, it can take up to a month to see a regular doctor (I make next-day appointments with mine), that our hospitals are decrepit and falling apart, that we have wait lists just to get a family doctor, that our doctors and nurses are severely underpaid, etc, etc. From my personal experience and work within the Canadian health care system, I know that these claims are false. However, there are Americans who will look at one story in one Canadian town and decide that that is what our health care system is for all Canadian citizens all of the time.
Anyways, I’m wondering if we are all as off about what American health care is like up here. From what I understand about American health care, I can pay thousands of dollars a year in insurance premiums, tens of thousands if my employer doesn’t help to cover the expense. And if I want to go in to see my family doctor or get some sort of treatment, I may have to pay a "co-pay." And if I’m uninsured, I can go to an ER and get treatment if I’m in a car accident, but if I have cancer and need ongoing treatment, I either pay or am screwed (so to speak). I’ve also heard that, many times, American doctors will order tests or treatments that are not required just so that they can bill insurance companies for more, which drives up everyone’s premiums in the end. Along with all of this, I’ve heard that the US is still short in specialists, which is the only plague to the Canadian system right now, and there are very long wait times in ER’s. I’ve also heard that insurance companies essentially control whether or not an insured person will receive care, and will try to find a way to deny the most expensive treatments. Lastly, I have heard that there are people living in the US who will not take a job with another company that would mean a step ahead, because they would lose their insurance and have fear of not being covered by another insurance company.
Anyways, how much of this is accurate, and how much of it is talking out of my butt? I’m just curious as to whether us Canadians are as clueless as American health care as Americans are about ours.
Why do Americans always have to take one case and treat it like it’s the be all end all for understanding Canadian health care? There has not yet been any information released as to why Danny Williams went to the US for care, but I can say that when my father needed urgent heart surgery here in Canada, he got it without traveling. Honestly, I think that he is going to the US for treatment because he was either on a wait list for an elective or non-urgent surgery, or he is going for something that he could have gotten immediately in Canada, but wanted to see one of the best specialists in the world and could afford to see him. From personal experience, he would have gotten good treatment, start to finish, here. Why I am even defending anything? Obviously, the intelligence level of anyone who would take my question and turn it into an excuse to bring up the Danny Williams case must be pretty low. After all, anyone who would do that can’t read a simple question.
To I speak with a forked tongue…Canada has the highest percentage of university educated citizens in the world. We are, in fact, the most educated country in the world.
I’m completely ignorant about the financial health of the Canadian government. But ours is in sad sad shape. This government is in debt to the tune of $60 trillion and the majority of that is the cost of Social Security and Medicare. I simply think it would be irresponsible to create such a massive new program when the programs we have now that cover the elderly and the poor are bleeding us dry.
Is the system we have perfect? No. But if you don’t have insurance, you will get treated, you will also get billed. You might have to file bankruptcy. If you have a debilitating illness like cancer, usually after you quit working so many months, eventually you will qualify for government assistance and Medicare picks up the tab.

Why do I slack off so much?
I don’t get my problem.. i lay in bed at night SO determined to get good grades for school but then when i get home and its ’study time’.. I suddenly feel really tired and as soon as I start my eyes blur and I cant concentrate.
I only manage to get 5 hours sleep (Im 15) because I think way too much at night and just cant sleep. If I read a book.. I get into it and then cant stop reading.. Even the really boring looking ones.
I know (im not trying to make excuses but..) that since my parents divorce and brother’s depression that led him to hospital 3 years ago.. my grades have slipped A LOT. I used to be As and Bs but now Im Cs and Ds. With the rare exception.
This is really putting me down and my parents are disappointed in me. I really want to succeed in life but I can see that now im going down the wrong road.
Please, is there anything that will MAKE me study and get the maximum of my capability. I have no problem when working in class.. its just at home where I just can’t do it.

It could be due to stress. Family situation and trouble make it harder to focus on homework. Or a long day at school could shut the body down for rest. Perhaps the school enviroment makes you awake. Like if you go to the library your not energenic like you were if you go outside and excercise.
A 15min. nap is good for the heart.
Recommended that excercise stimulates the brain.(I hope)

My daughter is infatuated with the movie Nim’s Island. I’ve looked all over however, I’ve been unable to find any toys for this movie. Do any exist?
I honestly don’t think so. I’m not sure where you could pick one up, either. You could check the toys section at Walmart or another department store which would carry such toys. You could call various toy stores and see if they have anything like that in stock. I can’t say they will, but it’s possible.
